At the heart of Daydress is a love of textiles and a joy of making.

Our story really begins with cloth.  Having grown up in a fabric-loving house, followed as an adult by many years working at House & Garden where beautiful fabric design was a cornerstone of the magazine, a trip to India over a decade ago presented an opportunity to transform this close relationship with textiles in something new through the joy of making clothing.

India has an incredible textile culture which is alive in every town across the country. From handwoven cotton and silks to embroiderers, block-printers and tailors. All our Daydress garments and homewares are miles away from the world of fast fashion.

Small quantities and specialist techniques which celebrate and elevate our garments are what we love best about what we do. Inspiration comes from paintings, theatre costumes and the glorious history of printed cottons.  We put together outfits that celebrate the art of daydressing
