We are passionate about print and pattern, this is where is all begins and ends for Daydress. Our designs are completely original, designed in-house before being transformed into beautiful block-printed garments. The art of hand-block printing is very special and worth reading a bit more about here. We want the care that goes into the production of each piece of clothing, from pattern placement to the lining and beautiful French seams to be the first thing you notice about your Daydress
Our first print collaboration
Artist Claire de Quénetain
'There is always a garden in my head when I design, a garden that I have been visiting or the one from my childhood which brings a special atmosphere into my work'
It has been a delight to work with textile designer and artist Claire de Quénetain on two prints for spring/summer 2021 which we have called 'Sea Lettuce' and 'Dragon Flower'. After completing her MA in printed textiles at the RCA, Claire launched her eponymous range of fabrics for interiors, but has loved seeing them applied to dresses,
'My designs become alive! And it’s even more interesting because they have been created with hand-blocked printing which is a complete new experience for me. I love the results'
What attracted me to Claire's work was her brilliant colour palette and her original visual style which she has developed through documenting many things, from the gardens she visits and photographs to 16th century Flemish tapestries.
